About my “high protein, lots of veg, low gluten lifestyle”

Hello fellow foodies, and welcome to my blog!  It was suggested to me, on multiple occasions, by many different sources, that I should begin to document my “dining at home lifestyle”.  So I thought “what the hell?”   …turns out, I think it’s going to be a whole lot of fun 🙂

Let me start by saying, this blog is just that…a blog.  It is in NO way to be taken as a proven dietary strategy or an FDA approved plan for better health.  It is just simply the way that I dine at home.  It’s funny to me how trends go… I guess you could say I’ve been “high protein, lots of veg, low gluten” since before it was cool 😉

I LOVE food.  I LOVE dining.  I LOVE staying on budget.  I LOVE keeping my waist line in check.  Unfortunately, all these “loves” are rarely found in the same sentence.  For most of us, there is virtually no way to keep our budgets in line while eating out every night….and there is certainly no way to keep our waist lines in check if we’re eating out every night.

So for me, years ago, I realized I would have to learn how to cook (well) and conscientiously.  Being a life-long restaurant industry veteran certainly helped my endeavor, as I have worked with some truly remarkable chefs…and have driven them completely crazy with all my questions.  BUT!  I got all my answers 😉

Regarding the whole waist line thing…the truth is, the difference between a  good chef and a great chef is…about a pound of butter.  Yikes!  Conscientiously, I had to get creative with this.  Olive oil quickly became my best friend in the kitchen (I haven’t had a stick of butter in my kitchen for over 8 years…I’m not kidding).  Lots of protein, lots of vegetables, low amounts of gluten and flour products and NO butter.  Notice I do not say:  no fat, no cheese, no bacon, no dairy, no cholesterol, no flavor, no fun.  Oh no my friends…we will be embracing ALL of those things 😉

Everything in moderation….including…moderation.

Again, this is NOT a diet.  It is my dining lifestyle.

Diets are restrictive.  I’m a Gemini, so that is certainly not a good idea.

This lifestyle is conducive.  Much better.

Here, here!  …to fine dining…every night of the week.

Cheers,

Bobby
